Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
As we saw in our commentaries on 1 Corinthians 15:22 and Romans 3:23, Adam and Eve chose to sin and thus to receive the penalty of sin—death. All humanity has followed their lead, and so death now reigns over humanity.
